Commercial and Residential Networks.
For decades the commercial sector has relied on a single infrastructure to deliver their ICT; that is Information and Communications Technologies. This same Network, the primary media being ‘Category X’ cable [5, 5e, 6 and 7 with the number referring to the speed and bandwidth, in simple terms, that the network can handle] has evolved over the years and evoked many new and innovative systems and components to enable the transmission of various other Media, as cited in other sections of this website.
Because Cat5/e cable has been around the longest [other than telephone] this has proven to be the most ubiquitous and cost
effective. New entrants into the market-place have been spurned in order to deal with mission critical scenarios [ mostly] and for
operators to mitigate certain elements that would impact on the performance of their network.
As a result, Network and Media component manufacturers have to ensure that any new product is ‘backward compatible’, in other
words will work with the ‘oldest’ of networks and not just ‘new ventures’.
In most cases we find that cat5e is more than capable of meeting the requirements for multi-media applications in both residential and small commercial situations. Naturally, if after our consultation our findings suggest otherwise, we would advise accordingly.
This means that Kudos Sound and Vision helps you stay in control of costs.
A home multi-media, multi-room system with zoned audio and video will generally consist of a combination of Cat5e and speaker
cable along with all the interconnecting apparatus that is required. If one includes Smart-Home applications, this may warrant a
separate control cable accordingly. Collectively these cables make up your Network.
