From chill-out bedroom music to poolside parties…you can have what you want where you want.
So what is Multi-room? Multi-room is all about installing home entertainment in such a way that one can enjoy all and any
media from anywhere in the home.
This is generally done by design, centralising all the various consumer electronic components in a purpose built enclosure, a
closet or a bespoke cabinet. One would locate all the source components, such as Sky HD receiver, possibly a secondary Sky
receiver [many of our clients subscribe to this], other digital receivers, DVD player, media server etc, at this central point.
We would then connect these through an Audio-visual Matrix switch.
This matrix is essentially a marshalling device which, upon command, directs any source input to any or all outputs.
Using the home’s network infrastructure, the pre-installed cabling around the property, and Infrared, Radio Frequency or a
combination of the two, or other control method, the user can communicate commands back to the central system from any
room or space in the home and call up any media that they wish to enjoy. The Matrix switch then not only routes the source
to the respective location, but also passes infrared commands back to the source device such that it too can be controlled.
Depending on the system chosen, one can enjoy Standard or High Definition video and stereo audio via stylish flat screen
plasma or LCD screens. Using ‘audio break-out’ techniques we can also deliver Hi fidelity stereo via professional high power zone amplifiers, routing audio to discreet ceiling or wall mounted speakers.
To achieve this effectively one would need to a clear idea of what they want to achieve and determine at outset certain
criteria. How many source components are there likely to be? To how many zones? How many users at any one time?
These are all fairly simple questions to answer but nevertheless important to get right in order for the end result to meet
your requirements.
Kudos Sound and Vision have various options to meet these requirements including High Definition solutions should this be a
pre-requisite. From an entry level 3 source- 3 zones Audio Visual/ IR controlled system through to for instance, 16 sources
and 32 zones….and beyond if this is what your home or other project demands.
A typical family home might have a 6 x 6 system; that is a 6-source and 6-zone system. A larger residence might have this
along with a dedicated Home Cinema room. The permutations are pretty much whatever you want.
